Really peaty, overpowering aroma on the nose. Followed by a strong pungent taste to the palette. The smoke resonates throughout, and almost scratches your throat and insides as it goes down. Much too peaty and smoky for me.

@Telex: Yeah, I need to give this another shot. I can't believe there's such a thing as a bad Laphroaig.
Wow - we'll have to agree to disagree on this dram. Maybe add a few drops and let it sit a little longer? You never know =)
Dave and Tia----you're absolutely right! I should've updated my notes. So---because I spent a decent amount of money on the bottle, I kept it think I got someday a friend might want it. I happened to try it again, and that burning sooty back of the throat scratch was gone. Now, it tastes like their 10yr old, except more intense
When I first tried this I had the same thoughts you did, which surprised me considering I like the 10yr. I went back and gave it a other try about a month later and found the "harshness" on the nose and tongue "almost" went away.
