As soon as you open the bottle, you get the aroma of burning wood. The palette then gives way to a bit of lemon, honey, and almost floral. But...the finish is back to the warm wood taste again. This is classic Islay at its best. Really not bad for the price. If you want an entry into Islay, this is the gateway.
Also...adding a bit of water or an ice cube, and leaving it out for a bit really does wonders. The palette became sweet with a hint of smoke. Almost like having a Kansas City barbeque.

Cool to read an old review from the legend that is PBMW..........Fuck me how do you get 1200 followers
Great review. I torn between trying this one and the Laphroaig 10. Im new to Islay, having tried Lagavulin 16 DE a few weeks ago and loving it I`ve decided to get a bottle of this or Laphroaig 10.
I know...this was two years ago. Was barely able to hold down an Islay then. Now...forget the glass...let's just stick an IV
A quality review - except for the little thing with the ice cube ;-)
