So my kid has this video soccer game where he can do tricky dribbles and moves, and through sheer acrobatics, score a goal like Ronaldo and Messi combined. But when I take him to his weekly soccer matches ( back when we were allowed out—-remember those days?), he’d do a dribble or two, and end up losing the ball. And I gently try to explain to him after the match “ get solid on the fundamentals before you start doing fancier moves”. He’s super good in math, two grades over his level...so, it’s cool that he can’t dribble,,,he’ll be fine.
I’d have the same unsolicited piece of advice for Jura. Before you go tricking with 7 wood finishes, just try to get one right. This here was a sample I opened up, hoping the 7 woods would add exponentially to complexity and depth. More like accelerated downward logarithm. As time passed, just got worse. Weak nose of shortbread cookies, and tastes of chocolate and bakery sweets.
On the brightside: Jura still remains as the one distillery that I’ve yet to like any of their products, and they’ve kept that trend with this one, for me at least.

In all fairness, I liked the Superstition as well. Not a great whisky, but worth 3.5 stars in my book.
@PBMichiganWolverine When I first saw that they released this bottle, I just had to laugh. No further comment needed, I guess.
@bigwhitemike or...who knows..try...you might end up in that loyal small, but highly vocal, fan base. 😌
@jonwilkinson7309 their 1984 ( named for Orwell’s iconic novel, since he grew up there), is supposedly excellent. But I’m not willing to pay that money for the top of the line when their core doesn’t do it for me.
Haven’t ever had a Jura. Sounds like the Jur-y has pretty affirmatively weighed in that I should keep it that way.
...reduced that to about 2.5. I think I'm done with the Prophecy and Jura in general.
I had the Seven Wood a couple of years ago, and thought it was pleasant, but lacking in complexity. And at $79 a bottle, way overpriced. Yet for some unknown reason, I've continued to be drawn to trying Jura's offerings. A few months ago, I came across a bottle of Prophecy for $39, so I bit. I have yet to review it, but after the first taste, I'd given it a 3.5. Subsequent tastes have
@Soba45 yeah—-I’m guessing a small but highly vocal cult
Yeah Prophecy was my highest scoring ever. A 4. Superstition got a 3.5 and down hill from there even with the IBs. I was wondering who buys this stuff but then one of my best friends loves them!
@Scott_E @Rick_M They do seem to have a small cult following—-which is what probably keeps them in business.
@PBMichiganWolverine Great analogy. I root for Jura, but the seem to always disappoint. I did like their Superstition.
Yes, Prophesy was the only one I’ve liked as well. Gave up on Jura a long time ago.
@cascode @Ctrexman I’ve also read their 1984 is amazing. But outrageously priced
@Ctrexman Yeah, to be fair I just checked my notes and I did give 4 stars to a bottle of Jura Prophecy back in 2017. It was an unusually drinkable expression for them. Jura is one of those distilleries that give you the impression that there are four distinct production teams, but only one has its game on.
Ah, Jura - the perennial disappointer.
For what its worth i liked the 10 yr
