Weller 12. One of the most overhyped bourbons in my opinion. Considering the scotches I could get for the price of one of these, I am not impressed. Gave it a few tastings before writing this, and it did somewhat improve my opinion of it, but still, not worth it.
Nose is slightly overripe apples, some vanilla, and the smell when you open the oven and the first waft of fresh baked cake comes out. That's what I get here. Not bad, but can be had for a lot less.
Taste is somewhat vanilla, with apple pie, a few spices in there and some cinnamon. Reminds me a whole lot of Maker's Mark if I am totally honest here, and that one fell out of favor for me a while ago. I still like it, but it's not my go to at the moment.
Aftertaste is some mellow cinnamon and warmth. Decent.
Overall, it is not a bad bourbon, at all. What hurts it most is the hype and the resulting inflated price. If this would be a 50€ bottle, I'd be ok with it, but not for 90.

@PBMichiganWolverine and that’s if you can even find them...
@Scott_E me too...like kombucha and smoky Lapschong tea...the latter is as close as I can get to Islay w/o an ABV on it
@mikael those were truly the days. I walked into a store and had bought Yamazaki 18, Hibiki 21, and Yoichi 10...all for a total of $200. Now, it’s a few months mortgage...
@Reverend357 @PBMichiganWolverine in the days of past, I would consistently get 107 Antique for $39. Oh well, moving on to better things...
@Slainte-Mhath thanks :) yeah I'm good. spent the last couple months emptying open bottles so I can get to new stuff. Have been a bit reluctant to open my samples since Master of Malt stopped shipping to mainland europe and I can't get new ones, but I'm planning to get back into the game.
@Reverend357 Nice to see you back on Distiller! Hope you are alright.
@PBMichiganWolverine if you see a bottle of this in California, and that’s a big if, it is now priced at over $200. Insanity. When we launched Distiller we had a tasting party, so this was beginning of 2014. One of the whiskeys we provided was Weller 12. We got a case of 1L bottles for something like $28 each. Those were the days.
Yea I think I paid 80$ the last time I bought it, and was saying "but the 107 Antique is 50$ and it's better" it's among the more overhyped and over rated of the BT products along with Buffalo Trace itself.
damn, that's insane...for that kinda money I'd buy a bottle of Talisker 18 honestly, or if we are talking bourbon EH Taylor.
And some places have the audacity to ask $150-200 for it, calling it “ the poor man’s Pappy”
