A classic. An American workhorse. Good in cocktails. Better on ice. For $20, you could do a lot worse. Neat, it’s brash and unapologetic. Not so much hot, but you feel the rye spice. Initially shocking to the palate, it calms down to give you nutty, classic bourbon notes. Pecans in particular.
I would highly recommend you have a bottle of this around. I do NOT recommend you drink this in a glencairn looking for a thoughtful sipping experience. Put it in an rocks glass on ice and turn up the TV. Sometimes you just need a drink. Cheers!

@Slainte-Mhath Good Lord! I'm legitimately shocked by how expensive that is. Even at $135 per bottle, that's an extra 20% D:
@WhiskeyLonghorn In Norway, beer, wine and liquor above 4.7% ABV can only be bought at Vinmonopolet, the government-owned alcohol monopoly. A tax of 367 NOK per liter applies for all spirits ($27 per 70 cl bottle). Anything above 60% ABV is considered a narcotic and strictly prohibited. Bottom shelf liquor becomes really expensive, but for high-end bottles the impact of the tax flattens out.
@Slainte-Mhath good lord! My wife visited Norway last year with a request to bring a local bottle back for me as a co dilation prize but when she told me the cost I told her to forget it. What’s going on with your liquor prices over there? Does the national government set the prices?

Nothing wrong w/ having a tumbler of the venerable 101, though I think you're giving it a bit of short shrift on the taste value.

I totally agree with your assessment(reviewed this a while back). However i think the value for $ brings this up a bit. Just my opinion but this stuff is way better than a lot of bourbon
