Ok about halfway through this bottle and cannot believe how much I like it. Seriously this tastes like a $50+ bottle of highland scotch imo. Poured neat, nose has good malty notes with soft barrel and tropical fruits. Think papaya, maybe some melon. Very fresh and full with a splash of spice. Great mouthfeel(this seems to be a Balcones trademark) leads to palate blast of peaches, nectarine and orange marmalade. Its thick rich malt flavor with a blend of baking spice, leather and salted oak. Long finish with the malt and fruits fading slowly alongside drying oak. Blind I would put this as 12-15 yr Highland....a good one. There is a flash of the youth/heat but you can tell how good the new make is. The Golden Promise must be shining through I guess. The vfm here is unreal and this will be a constant shelf dweller for me from here on........91/100.....at its price point might be best whiskey on the market, absolutely delicious

Okay so on my 4th bottle of this. Date on this guy is 2/1/22 so a newer batch. I can tell you quality has not gone down at all but price seems to be creeping up. If this is in your market and you have not tried this yet what are you waiting for. Its a totally luscious peach malt bomb that takes Monkey Shoulder behind the woodshed. Yeah I said it and I love me some Monkey. This is epic value Texas single malt
Okay so bought yet another bottle of this to run against Stranahan Blue Peak as they are both American single malts. Pricing is in same ballpark and both are Nas. I wont rehash tasting notes as both my reviews are up to read just go to direct comparo. Ill cut to the chase, Lineage bests Blue Peak in price, proof, nose, mouthfeel, palate, finish you name it. Its a clean sweep. Now let me say I really enjoy the Blue peak so its not a knock on it at all. The fact is Lineage, for me, is simply un beatable at the price. You get so much rich flavor with very little drawbacks its a slam dunk.
@robertwayne64024 Glad you like it look forward to your review
Hey CT! Finally located a NY state source that carries some Balcones products and ships to MO. Bought a half case, with shipping it ran $38 a bottle. Am enjoying very much. Will post a review in the future.
@Ctrexman and sometimes, in fact most times, we don’t need complex and thought provoking...just need simple and damn good
Okay so had to get another bottle of this. I will concede its not complex or thought provoking but I cannot think of another whiskey under $35 that tops this. It may have struck a peach jolly rancher chord with me so keep that in mind. I am running this agains Balcones Mirador and it is holding its own quite well with a vfm that elevates my score once again
Bottle kill: This went quick so oxidation never played a part. I am raising score as despite the youthfullness it delivers way beyond asking price. The peach flavors maintained and I still contend this is one of the best bang for buck options out there
@Ctrexman even better, somebody brought them to me!
@WhiskeyLonghorn Yeah Fredericksburg peaches are awesome. Did you drive out or get from a stand on 360
Ugh, this would already be in my cabinet if I could find it anywhere :(
Since their days under the bridge, Balcones have become a force to be reckoned with, haven’t they?
That’s it. Into the cabinet it goes. You had me at peaches. Just got a batch of Fredericksburg peaches last week.
