Nose - Spiced orange vanilla similar to a chai tea, brown sugar, strong rye spice (clove, cinnamon, dill, and light anise), medium ethanol and oak.
Palate - Orange molasses compote, pumpkin bread and gingerbread cookies, medium ethanol. Bold, medium to long finish with strong dill, rye spice, citrus rind, cinnamon sugar, lightly tannic.
I was hesitant to grab a Rabbit Hole due to its price, but the reviews swayed me to buy their cheapest whiskey available in NC. I'm no longer a skeptic, this is good stuff. In the past I've mostly avoided the MGP 95/5 due to strong floral and anise notes. This amps up the rye citrus combination with strong dill notes but barely a hint of anise, and is so much better than your typical MGP rye. Highly recommend this, plus the bottle is fantastic. Love the cork and the feel of the glass when you pour, it doesn't dribble.

Hmm, hearing more about Wilderness Trail these days @Zachary-Robbins. Sounds like another one I'll need to add to my ever growing list 😂
@ContemplativeFox Yeah it's the 2nd best rye I have open. Just got a Sagamore Barrel Select pick today and it's good but very similar to Knob Creek. The best rye I've had by far I cracked during Thanksgiving courtesy of my brother who picked this up in Louisville, Wilderness Trail Settlers Select Rye Single Barrel Barrel Proof. This alone would convert me to a rye guy.
@BeppeCovfefe Yeah I'm interested in trying others, but in NC we can only get the Heigold for $60 and the Dareringer for $80 right now, so I'm still a little hesitant. The Cavehill isn't available here yet for some reason.
I've noticed Rabbit Hole sques sell out in a lot of stores, inspite of the pricey price tag.
Wow, that's quite impressive @Zachary-Robbins ! Bumps this up substantially on my list of things to try.
@ContemplativeFox It is easily one of the best ryes I've had, which is not a bold statement. My brother and friend preferred this to Wild Turkey Rare Breed Rye and Knob Creek Rye Single Barrel 6Y, only ryes on hand.
It would be interesting to hear from someone at Rabbit Hole what they did to make this so good given that it (or at least a substantial amount of it) is 2 YO MGP. I've been avoiding the Rabbit Hole rye for that reason, but maybe I need to give it a chance.
