Tastes

Solid rye. Like others have written, I am more of a bourbon guy. But this is a nice change of pace. Not as complex as Lot 40 and a shorter finish with less heat. Hence, I rate this a notch below Lot 40. But this is a very easy, smooth rye to drink.

Very peppery on the palate and finish with some brown sugar and maple flavor. Fairly smooth. I typically drink bourbons, and this is my first foray into Canadian Whiskys. While a bit light, this is a very solid rye. Going to grab another dram.

Very easy drinking. As primarily a bourbon guy, I try to switch it up some times with scotch. I usually find too much rubbing alcohol taste or too much peat in the under $50 bottles of scotch. This one has a slight rubbing alcohol taste but not overpowering. It does have a very strong orange peel flavor on the palate with a bit of a chocolate finish. Overall, probably the best under $50 scotch I have had except when Oban Little Bay is on sale.
