A molasses- and vanilla-rich, nearly peatless, full scotch that springs unexpected burn on the back end. Subdued molasses smell gives quickly to a full-molasses flavor before yielding to a vanilla aftertaste with a hint of dark fruit and spices. Goes down smooth but then comes the burn. A very good scotch but not an ideal match for my flavor palette and peer preference and there is nothing unique to it. Would be another good fall or winter scotch - perhaps a Xmas party scotch.

Classic LaPhroaig peat is muted on the front end with a deep, molasses sweetness that is faintly cut by melon/grapefruit undertones, which ultimately yield to the peaty burn on the back end. The aftertaste is part-peat, part-molasses sweet but neither dominates. Good for late-September/early-October, pork or lamb chops, and dessert.
