I feel like I just got done eating dark chocolate covered espresso beans! Those two flavors - chocolate and espresso - are still lingering on my palate a good 5 minutes after my last sip. I can't really give any notes on the nose because allergies have me all stuffed up today, but I can say is that this is different than any other rye I've ever had. If you like the other stuff Balcones puts out then you will probably also like this. Just don't expect anything close to resembling a typical rye.

This whiskey is clearly Balcones, and it is also clearly Shiner Bock - both of which I happen to love! The nose and palate up front is all Balcones, and then it's all Shiner Bock on the finish. Don't go into this one expecting a typical whiskey profile or you may be disappointed. But if you go into it expecting something beautifully unique and wonderful, then I think you'll be very happy with it!
