John J Bowman Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Virginia, USA
Reviewed May 1, 2016 (edited January 20, 2020)Buffalo Trace is the first distillation apparently for all of their bourbon, not really a "rumor", more of a fact. 2nd and 3rd distillation is in VA followed by storing upright in the barrels (somewhat unique!) Recommend the distillery tour (free), no mash tuns obviously. The stills are also very unique looking. Very full flavored lots of vanilla, caramel and black pepper with a great finish. A bit of water really opens it up. I agree with the other reviewers that this is way underscored and I think the head reviewer may be biased. I would put this around an 89-92.
