Oak and a lot of grain on the nose. Pleasant, but not very memorable. A lot of oaky spice on the body. The heat comes at full force and was a bit overpowering for me. Dark cherries and spice on the finish. It adds a layer of complexity for me but not enough to move this pour out of the ‘mediocre’ category. In all, not a bad pour but at the $50-60 price point it would not be high on my list. There’s a lot more flavor, complexity, and yes, “smoothness” to be found in that 115-125 proof range. OF 1920, Larceny BP, and some ECBP to name a few..

Classic bourbon flavor profile. Oak, caramel, brown sugar, and a hint chocolate and cherry on the nose. Full bodied, slightly creamy mouthfeel with caramel notes leading the way. The finish heats up with some nice rye spice and nuttiness making for a lingering, warm Kentucky hug. No ice or limestone water need IMO. This is an easy drinking 115 proof. The best Old Forester I’ve had, granted that I’ve yet to try Birthday Bourbon or any of the Single Barrels.

Henry McKenna 10 Year Bottled in Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 1, 2021 (edited December 2, 2021)One of my absolute favorites.. especially at the mid level price point. Sweet, spicy, peppery, with a strong finish. It’s hard to pack more flavor than this at 100 proof. -
If I were introducing a friend to bourbon, I’d likely pull out this bottle. Light, approachable, and (as much as I hate the word) SMOOTH. The nose is welcoming but not particularly strong. The palate has a subtle complexity of sweetness with a little spice. The finish heats up a bit but flavor profile remains consistent throughout. Overall, a light and enjoyable pour that can be appreciated by both newcomers and bourbon snobs alike.

Blanton's Gold Edition
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 30, 2021 (edited September 23, 2022)Everything Blanton’s is and better. A super welcoming and approachable dry oak, vanilla, and light citrus the nose. I could smell this for days. A cozy yet subtle mouthfeel on the palate. A super refined “spice” on the finish that lasts for minutes. This is everything bourbon should be. -
Yellowstone Hand Picked Collection Papa Joe's Liquor Single Barrel #7426842
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 28, 2021Super Oaky on the nose. Somewhat “figgy” on the body but the finish ultimately falls flat. A decent pour but not quite worthy of the $50-60 price point.55.0 USD per Bottle
