Glenlivet 12 Year Double Oak
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed November 8, 2014 (edited February 4, 2015)This is your gateway Scotch. Feel free to stay here or venture out to older expressions of Speyside or to start slowly into Islay. I'd equate this to a Budweiser in beer terms- safe, appeals to masses, but not exciting. -
Highland Park 12 Year
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed November 7, 2014 (edited April 24, 2018)A hint of peat, so don't buy this if you're expecting smoke to hit you in the face. Very well balanced with the Sherry. -
Compass Box Oak Cross
Blended Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed November 7, 2014 (edited October 7, 2015)A great introduction to blended Scotch without the peat and spice. A step up in complexity than the Asayla due to the French Oak heads. Soft and smooth finish. -
Glenfiddich 15 Year Solera Reserve
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed November 7, 2014 (edited April 24, 2018)A good starter into the 15 year realms of Speyside if you're looking for something more from the Glenfiddich/Glenlivet 12s.
