I didn't take extensive notes when I last had this. I recall the oakiness and some carmel on the palate. I had this a couple of months ago and was surprised that I actually enjoyed it. My prior experience with this about five years ago was a bit "Jekyll and Hyde." Sometimes it was OK, and sometimes it was a bit bitter. My palate was definitely not refined back then. Would I go out of my way to purchase this? Probably not. For a cheap weeknight pour, I prefer Jim Beam White Label. Would I drink this if it's offered to me? Absolutely.12.99 USD per Bottle

This has a sweet taste to it, actually too sweet for me. The first time I had this five years ago, it made my stomach a bit uneasy about an hour after drinking it. This was the first scotch I ever tasted. You have to start somewhere, right? This eventually pushed me to look around at the slightly higher priced blends. I had this again about a year ago, and it tasted like scotch with vodka added to it. It kind of reminded me of a scotch version of Kessler.10.49 USD per Bottle

This is more dry and spicy than the main Jameson offering but not bad. The main component of Granny Smith apples still shines though accompanied by a little bit of the beer barrel taste on the palate. I enjoy the flagship Jameson product more than this, but I would buy this again if my local store was out of the original offering.32.99 USD per Bottle

Larceny Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 30, 2024 (edited April 18, 2024)Banana bread on the nose. I could sniff this all day. I get carmel on the palate with a little bit of orange sneaking in there at the end. This wheater is a great bargain for your buck, and it has a good story to go with it. Update: I'm downgrading this from my initial rating. Larceny has been giving me slightly bad breath the morning after I drink it.26.99 USD per Bottle -
This was an accidental purchase. I would not have bought this had I realized that it was 90 proof. At the time I purchased my first bottle of Crown Royal Black, everything else in my liquor cabinet was no higher than 87 proof. After realizing that this was 90 proof, I banished this to the cabinet above my fridge which is the hardest to reach cabinet in my house. Yet, one evening a few months ago, I looked at the contents of my liquor cabinet, and I was just in the mood for something different. So, I stood on a chair to get to my most out-of-the-way cabinet, brought down the Crown Royal Black and poured myself a shot. I was blown away. It's the smoothest higher proof liquor I've ever had. On the palate, I taste maple syrup with a tinge of wood. This is excellent and is now a permanent fixture in my liquor cabinet. Prior to opening my first bottle of this, I was mostly a scotch drinker. I hadn't touched Canadian whisky or bourbon in years. Now I'm once again expanding my tastes, and I'm also starting to explore higher proof whisk(e)y offerings. Additionally, I'm lightening my wallet now that I'm not going after single malt scotches.32.99 USD per Bottle

Campfire on the nose. I would describe the taste as salted, burnt marshmallows with a hint of vanilla. A couple of years ago, I loved the massive amount of peatiness. But now, it's too much for me. My whisk(e)y tastes tend to evolve a good bit, and right now, I'm leaning towards unpeated offerings.58.99 USD per Bottle
