Slaughter House American Whiskey
Other Whiskey — (Bottled in California), USA
Reviewed April 26, 2020 (edited August 29, 2022)Musty hay and corn on the nose, and leathery with some wood notes on the palate. Finishes very smooth with the slightest sweetness. Full and round overall with just a little warmth. I think it is about 15 dollars over what I think it should be, but getting something like that in Canada is bound to cost more69.0 USD per Bottle -
Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye
Canadian — Manitoba, Canada
Reviewed April 15, 2020 (edited April 26, 2020)Juicy Fruit gum on the nose with a bit of spice.. more fruit on the palate and smooth. Fruit continues through the finish with a little warm vanilla and the slightest hint of mint. I expected it to be sweet and fruity after reading all the reviews but was also expecting more spice from a 90 rye mash. Not missing the extra spice tho, this is a great neat pour.28.0 CAD per Bottle -
Wayne Gretzky No. 99 Red Cask Whisky
Canadian — Ontario, Canada
Reviewed April 11, 2020 (edited April 26, 2020)Didn’t find the nose very interesting, but the leather and caramel on the palette was a nice surprise and made it interesting for Canadian whisky. Finish tastes like dark fruit which must be from the wine casks -
Nose is sweet with cherry and a bit of vanilla, followed by yeasted bread notes. Sips smooth on palate and starts with cherry and finishes with a bit of spice. A pretty sweet bourbon, perfect for sipping neat, but add a few drops of water and it lightens it up, reminding me of many of the Canadian whiskeys we have up here despite there being no rye in this mash bill.44.0 CAD per Bottle
