Auchentoshan Three Wood
Single Malt — Lowlands, Scotland
Reviewed November 23, 2019 (edited November 28, 2019)Very, very sweet nose--lots of caramel and sugar. Could pass for a glass of port. Tobacco and maple syrup, with a bit of astringent finish. -
Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed November 22, 2019 (edited December 16, 2019)This one is really interesting! It's an unpeated Islay--tiny bit of smoke, very floral and spicy, with a lingering salty tartness. Makes me want to try some of their other expressions. -
Balvenie Peat Week 14 Year (2003 Edition)
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed November 20, 2019 (edited May 7, 2020)Another really special Balvenie. The peat in this was intense but also unique--more multidimensional, evolving to a campfire ash that lingered at the end.
