Tastes

In my first tasting, I am reserving the right to change my score as I drink more of the bottle. The initial nose is sweet, and the initial taste is caramel and butterscotch but no big heat. After swallowing, a strong citrus/melon flavor comes in but leaves shortly. I will definitely reserve full judgement until I drink more of the bottle.

Admittedly, I'm not a big rye fan. Some dark chocolate notes. Not one I would keep in the liquor cabinet.

No real burn, especially considering the percentage. Notes of butter, caramel, and clove. Very smooth and no real ethanol smell. A very pleasant aroma and is one I would enjoy sipping for a while while savoring the smell.

No heat, however there is some spice on the back end. Buttery smooth, no big ethanol smell. Not one I would drink regularly, however would be good to have on hand as an option.

Definite tobacco notes on the nose and initial taste. Some ice really mellows it out. This would be great for sipping slowly over an evening.

Initial smell was like play-dough. Sweet, but I didn't get the Applewood flavor. Not one I would keep on hand.
