Woodford Reserve Straight Malt
Other Whiskey — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 12, 2018 (edited October 17, 2019)When I uncorked this bottle, I was quickly hit with malt and tea leaves. (Not really something I want to smell in a whiskey.) It took some time to find those classic bourbon notes. (Vanilla, honey, caramel). I gave it a week to open up before I tasted it again. On the nose, I got buttery caramel, a little vanilla, honey, and some oak spice. Those sweet flavors fell onto the palate, along with some dark chocolate bitterness, cinnamon candies, barrel char, and dark fruits. Amazing flavors, smooth entry, and a warm, spicy finish! I’d say this is for bourbon drinkers who want something a tad lighter. This malt is like a fine wine, MUCH better in time! Definitely one to be enjoyed, neat; NO WATER NECESSARY! Good job, Woodford!!!!!!!39.99 USD per Bottle -
Jim Beam Single Barrel Bourbon (95 Proof)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 8, 2018 (edited August 10, 2018)If you’re into sweet bourbon, this is a good one to try! The nose gives off a bit of brown sugar, caramel, vanilla, and slight Peanut Chew chocolate candy. On the palate, it’s sweet on entry, smooth, yet spicy. However, I was disappointed that the finish was so short, but it does leave a bit of fresh oranges on the tongue. I think this is perfect for a beginner bourbon drinker, and for a single barrel, the price is a steal! $30!!!
