Calumet Farm 12 Year Single Rack Black Bourbon (Discontinued)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 2, 2021I found the Calumet farm 12 year black to be earthy & grassy on the nose, with hints of herbal and vanilla notes. There is an acidic hint also on the nose of acetone. The acidity and alcohol are much more prevalent on the taste, as these elements rush to the roof & back of my mouth. Unfortunately the finish is short & leaves me somewhat “hollow” in remembering what I tasted. In sum, an OK “drinker”, but not at the price point. In short, too pedestrian to pay up for, in my humble opinion. -
Weller Special Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 9, 2021 (edited May 6, 2023)Appearance: Darker golden brown with good “legs” when swirled. Nosing: solid Vanilla is my first impression, followed closely with a fruity note that says “Cherry”. I detected softer hints of Butter and Toast. Taste: Creamy, was my first impression, there is some oak, and some spice in the roof/back of my mouth. The finish is long, slightly warming with time and very memorable. In short, it is simply smooth & delicious!
