Glenglassaugh 30 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed March 12, 2020 (edited May 28, 2021)Dramfest 2020. Amazing they had this in the normal 'free range'. When we saw that unicorn we shot to the table first. They made people try the rest of the range and didn't believe me when I told him I already had..which was true bar 1. He thought I was lying as the Octaves had just came to NZ. He obviously hadn't heard of MoM! Very very nice despite the hint of peppermint. -
Old Pulteney 15 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed March 12, 2020 (edited December 15, 2020)Dramfest 2020. Had low expectations but not to bad at all. Wouldn't run out and grab a bottle though -
I was very much looking fwd to the Ardbeg special tasting. Sadly they took my two least favorite Ardbegs and a special one and just did CS versions. Spoiler alert the 3rd was this year's pinot noir. Now i wasnt to sure if it had been released before and it had in Japan back in 2003. I saw one place selling this for $1000 USD..crazy! Sadly very much wasted on me..I walked out early. Now I did try this after the Glendronach 25 Master Vintage and 24 Grandeur so perhaps it would have been better prior. Anyhow...disappointed..

Glenburgie 1998 20 Year (Single Malts of Scotland)
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed March 11, 2020 (edited April 10, 2020)Another freebie from the good folks at Whiskey Galore. The Glenburgie distillery is located just outside of Alves in Speyside, and it is uncommon to see bottled as a single malt, with the majority of its production going to the Ballantines blend. This new bottling was selected by the Single Malts of Scotland label, matured for two decades and bottled at cask strength. Very nice. Loads better than the 10 yr G&M bottling. This is only the 2nd Glenburgie I have tried. -
Benromach Cask Strength Vintage 2008 (Batch 1)
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed March 11, 2020 (edited November 28, 2020)Another freebie pre old and rare tasting. Really nice dram, was up to 4.25 no water until i compared it to the old and rare selection. For the price still deserves the rating but overall tasted a lot younger and ethanolly in comparison. 3.75 to 4 -
Glenfarclas 15 Year 1980s
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed March 10, 2020 (edited March 11, 2020)This was the warm up dram for the rare and old bottling session at Dramfest. Two things almost made me choke, when I was posting this and one when I tasted it. Firstly the tasting. I'm not a fan of Glenfarclas..I find their stuff very light like they have reused their casks to an inch of their life..well let me tell you this isn't how they used to do it. Best Glenfarclas by miles. Rich sherry and perfect balance and that was after a CS Benromach. The two things that made me choke posting? The price is nearly $800USD and it is artificially coloured...
