the quarter horse wheated appears to be a brand new product as of fall 2022. i purchased it with little info online and no reviews mostly because the quarter horse reserve delivered a far above average value and excellent flavor profile in my experience so far. - it's pretty solid for a 2-year wheater* - the closest product i can think of to compare this to is weller special reserve (WSR). while WSR is older, a bit more complex and smoother, it's also very hard to find on a shelf these days. the WSR mashbill is the BT wheated mashbill which is corn, wheat, and malted barley (undisclosed percentages) while the QHW mashbill is 70% corn, 21% winter wheat, 9% malted barley. - nose: light oak, ethanol. - palate: sweet oak, light brown sugar, on the spicy side for a wheater (in a good way), it's sweet but not boring nor overwhelming quintessential bourbon, the body is on the thin side. - finish: short, hint of cocoa. - not quite as good as quarter horse reserve, which is an incredible product in the $30 range my ratings of similar products for comparison: - quarter horse wheated (QHW): 3.5–3.75/5.0 - weller special reserve (WSR): 3.75–4.0/5.0 - bernheim 7 year wheat whiskey: 3.75–4.0/5.0 - quarter horse reserve: 4.0/5.0 - old weller antique (OWA): 4.25/5.0 price: $27 / 750 ml *i'm not sure that there are actually any other 2 years on the market. but this will be very interesting to follow as it matures to the 4–6+ years age range.

Blanton's Gold Edition
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 18, 2022 (edited February 17, 2023)- first pour - definitely much woodier / oakier than normal blanton's - i do like it but it's drier and spicier with a much longer finish, surprisingly different than regular blanton's… i suspect it's aged longer, but blanton's doesn't provide age statements or barrel dates - more complex - extremely long finish reviews - https://www.breakingbourbon.com/review/blantons-gold-edition - https://thewhiskeyjug.com/bourbon-whiskey/blantons-gold-review/ -

Angel's Envy Cask Strength Bourbon Finished in Port Wine Barrels (2021 Edition)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 28, 2022 (edited February 17, 2023)- first pour - it's definitely *very* cask strength - 120.7 proof officially but it drinks a bit hotter than that until the raisiny / wine finish influence comes through on the backend - very rich and full bodied - the finish of "slight tannins, apricot, and smoke" is spot on for what i taste as well - 4.5/5 https://distiller.com/tastes/1210005 -
