Ezra Brooks 99 Proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 13, 2021 (edited September 14, 2021)Nose: This is the bottle's weakest spot. There is plenty going on, sweet vanilla & apricot dancing with caramel, an underlying but apparent note of peanuts and charred oak. It's very light on the nose, surprisingly so for 99 proof, but unfortunately the aromas are also light as if they're shy and trying to hide Palate: Turns out, those flavors aren't shy after all. Very pleasant, full mouth feel with all the aromas we got on the nose turning bold. Creamy vanilla & caramel mixing with oak and peanut butter. Faint brown sugar and spice Finish: Exactly what it needs to be. More of the same vanilla & caramel giving way to oak, peanuts, hints of corn and cinnamon spice, and a very welcoming 99 proof warmth. Overall: Ezra 99 isn't going to wow anyone, but it's not meant to. I picked this up for $25 and will absolutely be grabbing it again for that price. It's a very simple bourbon, and one that I found myself enjoying more as the bottle went on. This is a great every day bourbon to sit and sip or to pour an ounce or two and toss back. Given it's profile I would imagine it being good in cocktails as well, though I have not tried it in one. Admittedly I was generous with my rating due to my enjoyment + value25.0 USD per Bottle -
