1792 Ridgemont Reserve Bourbon 8 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 27, 2016 (edited February 16, 2016)Have had two bottles - one pre branding overhaul and one post. Both remain unfinshed ( which is rare for me) - the big issue here I believe is quality. Super oily and generally unbalanced, there are some good notes however I suspect the issue is either the quality of the barrels used for aging or the aging environment itself. A little rea search into the facility its produced in, provides clues but not answers, in summary there are significantly better bourbons (which can rightfully be called premium) in the same price bracket. -
Even, balanced and memorable - this "limited" edition is worth seeking out . The 2014 holiday select is the most balanced JD single barrel iteration and as a consequence the best. The standard single barrel is generally excellent, however it can suffer due to its cut proof. On the other hand the silver select, is generally unbalanced. Sad there is no 2015 release and one day there will be no 2014 left !

Knob Creek Small Batch Bourbon (NAS)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 21, 2015 (edited April 24, 2018)There will be some people out there who love knob creek for its high proof and non conformist packing ...... I am not one of them ...it starts very prickly -then some rather sharp acidity followed by an artificial intense alcohol flavour - there is some fruit and Carmel in the middle but they are overwhelmed quickly . Adding water helps a little but still not enough to warrant 3/5 . .... There is much better out there !! -
Michter's 10 Year Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 21, 2015 (edited April 28, 2016)The perfect profile - smooth start - rush of complex flavours - almost tart /spicy finish - if Michters only produced and sold the ten year old, they would be the best bourbon distiller / producer / brand in the world. If you do manage to find a couple of bottles sitting on a shelf somewhere, buy both - drink one, then admire the other for the rest of your life ... Epic . -
Jack Daniel's Sinatra Select
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed April 21, 2015 (edited December 4, 2015)Tastes unlike any other whisky. Viscous, with a slight artificial taste... Lots of orange . Ultimately not worth the price to anyone but collectors ... Stick with the single barrel variety which is a more complex, better and significantly cheaper.
