Blanton's Straight From the Barrel

2nd time tasting first time review. Put a half an ice cube in my glass. Nose - apples, apple pie, sugar, vanilla. Surprised there is almost no ethanol burn or heat on the nose. Taste - quite a bit going on here. Starts rather sweet and the longer it sets the sweeter it seems to get. There’s vanilla and apples up front. Some baking spices and raisins plus a full syrup feel to it. Ends with a decent amount of heat. Overall - another amazing bottle from blantons. A nice high proof full of flavor and a stellar nose. It is aggravating that a bourbon this good is so hard to find and so expensive. This is a must have for any bourbon lover, especially barrel proofs.

Extra proof Blantons! Really good if you want that high proof. Great flavors and great pour.

Nose is Blantons for sure, but has some heat. Cherries and cinnamon. Palate is caramel, more cherries and cinnamon. Molasses. Long finish with medium heat. Was pleasantly surprised by how good this is.

Smells like creme brûlée. Hints of leather and tobacco too. The palate is far more complex than other Blanton’s expressions, with notes of rye, mint, honey, and brown sugar. Long finish and a tight hug. Might just be my favorite bourbon.
