About 15 years ago when I was new to bourbon my friends and I coveted the Bulleit name. One night my friend got a bottle for his birthday. He mistakenly left it with four cretins. We swiftly drank the Bulleit and replaced it with with Old Crow. He still thought it was Bulleit, took a sip and exclaimed "Damn that's smooth!", we had a great laugh at his expense. Bulleit is still a great bourbon for mixing if that's your thing.
Spicy, not terrible on the palate but burns the throat with a strange astringent quality. I expect my bourbon to have a burn, but this kills any smooth palate taste with a harsh throat burn.
