Reviewed January 24, 2021 (edited March 10, 2021)Uncorking- Nose- Vanilla, oak, hay, peanut brittle, raw corn, molasses, crispy brown caramalized sugars. The rye lingers in back and the sides. Lots of thick legs and a gorgeous deep tea color. Taste- oak and char, nice oily mouthfeel, toasted oat cereal, caramel and vanilla with subtle spices. No burn but a bit of linger heat. Tiny hits of cherry and red licorice too when you get some air along with perfume. Finish- moves more heavily into the vanilla extract and rye spice with dark berries and plums I didn't get earlier on any tastes. Surprised by the lower scores here. I don't factor cost in my scoring so maybe that's it. I'd buy this again at ~$100. Note on a fresh bottle of this give it at least 5 min in the glass. It really opened up from a "meh." to a "Yeah!". I'm getting a Sazerac feeling here. Not sure if it's sourced but if you like Handy this is a bit of baby Handy with less complexity, punch and mouthfeel. -
