If I could rate it4.5, I would. The first sniff introduces the primary notes- rich, spiced sweetness. The agave is muted to the nose, but is clearly present- not overwhelming. I continue to sniff what remains in the shot before pouring a second. Like a fine fragrance, you are instantly allured. The first taste is so smooth, then slight heat and oak barrel enter the picture. The primary notes remain with you each time you sample. This is a fine tequila that leaves you wanting more. Not as top notch as my go to favorite, Clase Azul reposado, but 1942 will continue to be in my top 5. A 750 ml bottle in Mexico costs @ $95, while some stores in the US sell it for as much as $175. Shop around for this highly sought after, aged tequila.
