I do believe that THIS is where you ought to start placing your benchmark for the Jameson line. The Black Barrel is a good step up from the NAS, and the 12 year takes it to a comparative level of other Irish Pot Stills in the same range. The palate is strong on dark fruit and spice. A little chocolate and a dash of vanilla appear for a greeting as well. I found the texture to be light yet full all around, and the finish continues the spice ever so gracefully. It may be a major brand, but quality is quality in my book!
