The nose is overwhelmingly smoky, reminiscent of a barbecue. The palette is warm, rich, and is also dominated by peat and smoke. The finish is pleasantly smooth and leaves a lingering smokiness on the mouth which leads to a very slight fire in the belly. If you like smokey, peaty scotches, you will love this offering from Lagavulin.

Dark, lots of smoke. Unpleasant, lingering aftertaste.
Second taste (with ice). This is pleasant sip. The ice mellows the unpleasant aftertaste leaving: smoke, brine, treacle. I wish my first taste had been with a little water.
