Mortlach 12 Year "The Wee Witchie"

(Vita Dulcis Advent Calendar 17/24) Nose: fruity and nutty, not overly sweet, oily, raisins, the nose calls to me that this is a quality whisky somehow, it feels mature but not old Palate: oily sweet like raisins in sweet milk, a lot of woody tannins, orange peel, tangerine juice, bitter almonds and other nuts Finish: very nice, wood and orange oil, a nice ginger spicyness, dark chocolate, bitter orange Verdict: I really liked it, that 12 years suit it very well and it feels proper mature for its age, I also like that it less sweet and more spicy, I could see myself drinking this here and there

I received this in my advent calendar. I don’t see any wine cask influence listed here, I want it to be true. The nose is light and floral. Sweet and floral in the nose. Quickly gets astringent on the finish. Hangs on the Babel of your mouth for a bit.

2020 advent smells of toasted almonds and toffee. Tastes of oak and raisins finishes of jams and nuts with lingering lil burn

Not much of a nose. Could barely smell it. Very light fruity note. Flavor starts mellow and finishes bitter. Complicated flavor, but not great flavor. Decently drinkable.

Mellow, mildly sweet and fruity... would buy a bottle

Day 4 of the 2020 whisky advent makes a smooth dram.
