Old Elk Single Barrel Wheated Bourbon

Ohio pick. A lot of deep, rich notes that I’m not sure I usually get from a wheated bourbon. Pleasant heat that lets you know it’s there. Got the bottle for about $80 or so, which I think might be a little expensive for the experience, but I’m not upset about the purchase either.

Sweet on the nose with a classic wheat softness and caramel vanilla flavor. For its high proof point it doesn’t smell too hot. Viscous sweet and really good mouth feel. Finishes sweet with some oak and a medium Kentucky hug.

Yikes. Tastes like compost. Really awful.
