Reviewed July 10, 2021Neat. Opened two weeks. Mash and Journey Look at the Birdie pick. Warehouse G, 4th floor, 9.5 years. On the nose, I get this blend of caramel, cherry, honey, crescent roll. The oak comes across as leather and tobacco. Underneath the typical Turkey is this very interesting curried lemon grass. It’s a surprising note I have never found in a bourbon before. Very interesting. Great nose overall. Amazing creamy mouthfeel, top notch. Super rich immediately. Honey, cinnamon, brown sugar on the front of the tongue. Mid palate there is this chocolate and vanilla combo, almost like an Oreo. A salted caramel then escalates. The finish has a salted soft pretzel as well. And the finish just keeps going and brings an extra wave of the vanilla back with a hint of cherry. This finish has delicious after shocks. It gets more pronounced and intense on subsequent sips. Always count on Jason for an epic finish. Best finish on any Russel’s I have ever had. Probably the best Russel pick I have had in general. It’s a perfect example of this expression. -

Reviewed June 12, 2021 (edited June 28, 2021)Warehouse G, floor 4, barrel #20-0261. 9 year. Oak and spice bomb. Very warm soothing finish. Some sips I get some bitterness that lingers in the aftertaste and that kinda ruins it for me. The bottle has been open for a while and it hasn't improved. If it weren't for that, this would be one of my favs. With some water it does seem to improve and dilute the bitterness. I get a bit of the same bitterness with Wild Turkey Rare Breed. Maybe Wild Turkey isn't for me? -

Reviewed May 30, 2021 (edited September 14, 2021)Best wild turkey product that I’ve had yet. Walking through total wine and it caught my eye. Read a few reviews before I made the purchase of course as it was between this and rare breed and I’ve had RB a few times and not this. Rickhouse -A I taste a nice roasted note of peanut, barrel char, and dark fruit. I can’t pin point the fruited but I’d definitely say pitted. Possibly a little strawberry in there too. Dark characteristics of flavors but the roasted note is unique to me. The finish makes me want more and more. The mouth feel is oily and it drinks like 100 proof as it goes down nicely. Not a whole lot of YouTube reviews on this yet but do yourself a favor and pick this up if you see it. $60 dollars and worth the bucks. I’m close to DC and best $60 bourbon up here is bowman single barrel and I think I like this better. I wouldn’t add water to it but I’m sure it would change a bit. My recommendation would be to drink this neat. 95/100 Cheers 🥃
