San Matias Legado Blanco

Reviewed June 29, 2020 (edited October 27, 2021)The nose is richer with more chocolate than regular San Matias. It has a really weirdly oily smell going on with something a bit rancid, but not sulfuric - it's like pureed cauliflower. The cauliflower tastes like Clan MacGregor and it isn't good, though it vaguely works a bit in a tequila. The palate is quite viscous with a rich sort of malty presence that has gross bread for sure, but in a rich dignified way that is kind of enjoyable. It's sweet but enjoyable. The flavor can be a bit mineral and watery, but it doesn't taste light. The richness and oiliness seem like good base flavors for something, but they're a way from a complete profile. It's a bit odd and mainly has its richness and viscosity going for it. Lunazul has more going on in its flavor profile, so I kind of prefer it. This isn't substantially worse though. The weird tip that salvages this tequila is that it goes great in eggnog!15.0 USD per Bottle -

Reviewed February 1, 2020Neat. Aroma is bright and clean. Agave, slight herbal, citrus, slight ethanol. Taste is sugar cane and agave sweet, citrus, green herbs, slight anise. After airing out/a few sips, some fruit and mint notes come out. Drying finish builds up over time.. Herbal, saccharine, some alcohol heat Overall a thinnish mouthfeel, a little alcohol heat, Pleasant and no off-putting flavors, but not very complex. Great value. If you're looking a blanco make some mixed drinks for a party, this is great. Around me the same price for a 750ml for Altos, I might lean to Altos as I slight prefer it as a sipper, but for 1.75l, this is 15 bucks cheaper and is a no brainer steal.
