Reviewed July 3, 2020 (edited October 15, 2020)Neat. Neck pour. Why not kick off 4th of July weekend with a super serious whiskey review of Screwball. Never had this before but it seemed like a great bottle to enjoy this holiday weekend. The nose at first reminds me of artificial butter smothered all over microwave popcorn. It also reminds me of Buttered Popcorn Jelly Bellies! Texture is super oily like the syrup you pump into coffee drinks. The flavor again is Buttered Popcorn Jelly Bellies. This is delicious and dangerous. It too rich to drink more than a pour or two in a sitting. I think this is also the first whiskey my wife has ever truly liked. Maybe a gateway to some Jim Beam? Fun stuff. -

Reviewed July 2, 2020 (edited October 15, 2020)WOW. They really nailed the peanut flavoring in this... I don't think I like drinking this neat, but I am very interested to see what it would be like to mix with other whiskeys or drinks to make cocktails. A peanut butter old fashioned might be very interesting. I want to try this out with rye, as it seems like peanut butter might go along well with the spiciness of the rye. It has potential. But drinking it neat is way too sweet in my opinion. I'm impressed at the blend of flavors. But as far as whiskey goes, I can't pick out many typical whiskey notes. It's a little better when you add ice, but it's just sooooo sweet, it's almost asking to be used as a sweetener for whiskey based cocktails to make for interesting new flavors. -

Reviewed June 27, 2020 (edited July 10, 2020)Almost burnt peanuts and brittle on nose barely smell the alcohol. Very peanut buttery but almost peanut brittle more than raw or roasted peanut butter. Heavy caramel and syrupy. Tried a salted rim and that added another dimension. Might be fun in an old fashioned with black walnut bitters with NO sweetener, burnt orange peel and bitter cherries and then smoke it if you have the gear. Already too sweet.
