Reviewed December 29, 2021Very smooth yet has some bite to it on the palate. Smokey but with a hint of sweetness. Some spice to it (hints of cinnamon). Goes down with a smooth finish. -

Reviewed December 26, 2021 (edited January 16, 2022)Batch 114 (11/7/21) 57.09% Barrel strength Straight bourbon Mgp source aged in Nevada heat for a rumored period of 4-8 years. The taste suggests the age rumor is accurate, as does how hard it is to get a bottle. N Fig newton, cola, butterscotch, lightly sweet oak, untoasted light brown sugar, raisin, cherry. Outstanding, first-class. Reminds you a little of your first big neat glass of Henny or similar. Exceptionally remarkable given the likely age. Somewhere between a sheen of SWEET ethanol you only detect in higher proof goodies and a pile of Belgian waffles with syrup and butter. I've enjoyed NICER noses in terms of complexity, layers, fun surprises/well-done harmonizing... but this is the most ENJOYABLE perhaps for me... YMMV; I enjoy strong tobaccos, high-peat scotches, high proofs neat, and otherwise punch-your-tongue-in-the-dick-but-makes-you-want-more experiences... few have ever delivered like this. P Chocolate milkshake. Hot buttered rum. Orange peel hinting at vanilla. Pancakes with expensive syrup. Luxardo cherry syrup. The only problem is this badboy is not "smooth" in the sense you can outright guzzle it without trying. This is a big boy flavors whiskey, and if you haven't learned at this point in your drinking career that alcohol=flavor than you really probably have made a wrong turn at Albuquerque. Proof is perfect, but for neat or cocktails--shots need a perfectly measured water add. The nose and palate aren't too closed, but it is on the tighter side. I've had my bottle open 4 days and am only 25% but it does pour a lot sweeter smelling/tasting already. Freshly cracked it was amazing but intensely punchy. Give this one some attention or patience. M WOWIE. Viscous, but not overly oily in the way I hate about jack no7. Crisp, almost like a mildly astringent black tea. The first day it had pinch of fire but it's perfect now--spicy and rich without any off notes or unejoyable bite. I'm drinking it eating corned beef with mustard and smoking some top shelf out of the bong and it will still be on my tongue and lips AFTER those two. Weighty, softly sweet, kinda like a good smokey bbq sauce.๐๐๐ If you see it under $100 out the door in the states, buy it. Merry Christmas๐ everybody! And a happy new year.
