Kraken Black Spiced Rum Original

A sweet and slightly smokey taste with hints of dark caramel and vanilla. For something you find in almost every shop (here in the UK anyway), it's a nice rum and doesn't taste as cheap as the other regulars of the corner shop shelf. Easily drinkable either neat or mixed with a cola or ginger beer.

Had this at the Thirsty Scholar back when they first rolled it out. Rep came by and poor grad students got a free shot. Worth it only because it was free. This was/is just an over-hyped spiced rum trying to break into Captain Morgan's corner. Not very sweet but plenty of funky, ether-like aftertaste. Maybe they've fixed it but I don't plan on ever trying it again. Want better spiced rum? Buy Sailor Jerry. Want better budget rum? Buy Real McCoy or Cruzan.
