WhistlePig 10 Year Single Barrel Rye

Reviewed December 4, 2020 (edited July 25, 2022)Comparing a single barrel pick from “Bowstreet Beverage” at 50.8 ABV to the traditional 10 year batch A/354 at 50 ABV. Tasted both neat back and forth with two separate glencairns. The traditional blend was better on all accounts, the nose was much more pronounced and more inviting despite very similar notes. The palate had a lot more to offer on the blend as well and the finish was much longer. Does make me question this particular store’s picks. Overall it was very good and I give it a 4 but the blend was worlds better at a 4.5. -

Reviewed December 4, 2020Incredible eye. Got as a store pick and it’s absolutely amazing. Great spice to it but not an overly drawn out finish. One great Rye Whiskey!90.0 USD per Bottle -

Reviewed December 4, 2020 (edited December 11, 2020)I was disappointed. I thought piggyback (6yr) was better. This has a delightful nose, evident from the aging, however flavor profile was woody and one-noted. -

Reviewed December 1, 2020Like an occasional rye, but not my go to. This was solid. Clean and crisp with nice flavor. -
