On sale for under 100....why not?
Nose - Straight up sherry bomb. There's some meat and peat elements WAYYYYYYYY back there or there's just too much sherry? I get a lot of red fruits from a second use oloroso or perhaps some PX. The meaty peaty malt is giving me elements but not coming out here strong. I get the smoke off a pig roast with some glaze, but it's still a touch out of line with exceptional.
Taste - I get why these are so expensive at retail. It really is a flavor bomb with elements from all over coming out. It's sherry and oak and peat, and then this totally weird funk where I think the wood and oak you're storing this in are going bad. That said, it's darn complex and tasty....
Ok so the nose isn't doing well for me. The taste of really well done, really complex, but doesn't hit on notes geeks love. Still I love what they did on the neck and I'm told drink that neck. SO cheers.

To be honest this is likely the one I'd get of what I've seen here. I haven't seen the new "refreshed" bottles that are now in sane prices. But the abv's are so low on their stuff normally.
@PBMichiganWolverine Yup, saw this Mortlach on sale for $60 in my neck of the woods. GoT Lagavulin is going for $25 now as well.
Thanks for the review. I’ve seen this in stores, but always pass on it. I am interested in picking up a good Mortlach soon. Any recommendations for one that’s a solid representation of the brand?
Apparently distributors have been requesting retailers to get these off their shelves, so hopefully we’ll see really reduced prices
I was close to get it on sale as well for the same price you got it for. But was putt off by other tastes as well. Your review sealed the deal for keeping my hand off it as well. I probably go for the 18y then because I am still looking for a nice Mortlach bottle.
