It has been a busy 2020 for me. Last tasting I wrote about was about 4 months ago though that doesn’t mean I haven’t been drinking whiskey... picked this up since I appreciated the bourbon cask 14. Anyways, on to the tasting.
Nose: On my initial whiff I get a deep honey and pear. Green Apple and buttery biscuits. Cereal and candied fruits. Reminds me of a fresh stack of pancakes with fruit jam on top.
Palate: the fruit is the first thing to hit. Many of what I mentioned above. The green apple is what takes the cake. This is definitely a sweet forward dram. The mid gives you faint honey before the ending gives you the oak spices.
Mouthfeel: Nothing about this says oily. Watery mouthfeel with enough oak spice to let you know it was sitting in a oak barrel.
This isn’t what I would call a challenging whiskey in any regard. It’s not something high end, but definitely something I’d sip on if I didn’t want to give to much thought to what I was drinking. It’s a classic speyside with all the sweet and fruit notes you’d expect
