Laphroaig 18 Year
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed
July 11, 2015 (edited August 7, 2016)
Laphroaig's familiar briny seaweed note remains well supported by a substantial, medicinal peat smoke, albeit much less intensely than in the 10-year. Sweet (very sweet) barbecue and bacon notes on the nose and palate are accompanied by a rather pleasant peppermint aroma. The Laphroaig 18 will be discontinued at year's end 2016.

@Pranay I've heard Laphroaig is actually going in the opposite direction and will be releasing 21- and 32-year-old expressions. The 18 has been pretty reasonably priced, and so to avoid payment shock among consumers while taking advantage of the still-continuing whisky craze, the distillery will release older expressions accompanied by substantial price increases. But we'll just have to wait and see.
Oh that's interesting----you think they're replacing with a NAS?
