Spiced Rum — Trinidad & Tobago

Nose - vanilla cola, molasses, caramel, bubble gum, mint, pine, powdered sugar, marshmallow, clove, nutmeg, mild ethanol burn.
Taste - vanilla cola, molasses, caramel, spearmint, clove, cinnamon, cherry, nutmeg, barrel spice, black pepper, coffee, cocoa, moderate alcohol bite, finishing medium short with molasses, cola, and baking spice flavors.
This isn’t terrible, but it’s obviously dosed with a lot of sugar and flavorings. Vanilla Coke is the strongest note I get on the nose and palate. There are some nice baking spice and marshmallow aromas and flavors as well. Overall, it’s too sweet to drink very often and comes off as artificial and a bit chemically. I don’t have much else to say about it.

@cascode I hope the good, dignified men and women of Distiller don’t disown me. @Ctrexman I’ve got 20+ ready and waiting. Not sure whether any are potato-based. I’ll try to scrounge one up if not.
Vodka !?! Oh, the humanity ... 🤢
I hope you try a potato vodka Ive always been curious if it would be good enough to drink neat
@Ctrexman For science! Get ready to mash that like button. After the rums, I’m planning a vodka tasting series for next month. I’m bringing new meaning to masochism.
Peace be with you......If you actually drink those neat I will have to like your reviews just for intestinal fortitude displayed
@Ctrexman Agreed. I have some Sailor Jerry and Captain Morgan on deck, along with the 70 proof version of Kraken. I have a feeling it’s gonna be downhill from here.
Im not a fan of spiced rums but Im pretty sure they are not meant to be drank neat by the likes of us
@cascode Honestly, it’s probably because I really like Vanilla Coke. It’s my favorite soda. I don’t see it in stores around here very often, but can’t pass it by when I do. I think the positive associations I have with that rubbed off on my opinion of Kraken.
You're a lot more generous to this dishwater than I was 🙂
