I’ve been a fan of Mr Black’s coffee liqueur for a while—-they produce their liqueur with less sugar, more of the coffee bitterness, which takes this to a whole new complexity level beyond just sweet.
The one here is a limited single origin Ethiopian, as opposed to their regular batches, which is a blend of coffee beans. It’s more complex, slightly more bitter, and much more floral aromatic than their regular batch.
Mixed with milk, some ice and voila ...ready to go. Intensely flavorful, highly addictive. Strong floral coffee flavor (obviously), but a very intense bitterness followed by equally intense sweetness. For about $30, it’s a no brainer buy. This is slightly harder to find, but if you do—-buy on sight. If you can’t find this, at least try their regular batch.

@PBMichiganWolverine Ah yes I mixed with liquid cream..similar effect..very decadent!
@PBMichiganWolverine As always, thank you. I will be scouting for a bottle to have on family occasions.
@Scott_E it was —-had it here at bottlerepublic, with local free delivery as well. I have more than I can possibly drink—-I’ll save you a pour and send it when I have a few things to include
Been looking locally for just the basic one. Still haven’t found (what I am looking for). Was this local for you?
@Soba45 to lower the sweetness, I only take an ounce of this, and mix with milk...I know, defeats the purpose...but it’s then like a latte
Ah nice. It's great stuff. Still a bit sweet for me but great quality so i did email them to see if they were planning a less sweet version a while back but no reply sadly
@ctbeck11 yeah—-they had a Colombian single origin, which I didn’t try. And now this one—-slightly better than the standard
Wow, I didn’t know until now that there are different versions of Mr Black. I really enjoy the standard bottling. Will have to keep my eyes peeled for one of these.
