Bill-Shannon
Wild Turkey Rye 101
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed

1 liter bottle. Amber-gold color with thin, wispy legs. The nose is spicy and peppery right off the bat. Rye, fennel and black licorice. A sting of ginger. Dry wood, like an old deck after a thaw. Dry fruit: figs, sugarplums and prunes.
The rye spices dance on the palate from the first sip. It's grassy and peppery. The middle of the palate has touches of yeast and sourdough bread. Nutmeg. Prickly orange peel and ribbon candy. The pine needle and forest resins permeate throughout.
The finish is leathery cowhide. Cinnamon and prickly herbs. Tobacco leaf. There is chocolate and mocha in the long finish: dark and dusty.

@BDanner Thank you for the kind words! Not only is it a spectacular value but it's great on its own, on the rocks, or in a cocktail. Definitely going to be a staple.
Had my first pour of this tonight and holy sh*t was it good. Your review nails it to the point that I could almost say "See Bill's review, and ditto". It's as close as I've come to the overwhelmingness of a peated whiskey in a rye. So many strong flavors and all of them in your face. It reminded me of a girl I dated in college who liked it "rough". I hated it and loved it at the same time. The Russell's should just step out of their homes and take a bow for this one right bloody now. It's that good.
A good every day’er. Flavorful and affordable. Coincidentally, drinking this now as I type this.
