Bought Connemara and Blackpitts together.. Birthday Gift to myself.. long weekend! As a big fan of peat this is on the lighter side in flavor. Tasting notes are spot on, and with Teeling's wine barrel aging, it always shines in the tasting experience. The wine notes give this whiskey it's peaks. Which is the difference between the classic Connemara. At the price point Blackpitts sits at, anyone looking to scratch the itch for peat, should still lean towards Connemara. As a big fan of Teeling this whiskey does not stand up to the price. For the craft of this whiskey, it is a cut above Connemara and does offer a unique taste of white wine barrel aging with a kiss of smoke flavor. Melon and peach, hint of peat, stood out for me and the finish is dry and a bit harsh.. for the price.
