Barrel 41-2M. I'm not super enthusiastic about this. It's very good, but I was wanting some more classic bourbon taste. This barrel is SPICE, and tannins. It tastes more like (a very good) rye, than a bourbon. On the nose, I get loads of oak, and rye spice, some cola notes, there is vanilla, but it's sitting in the background, rounding it out, faint hints of mustard seed, maybe carraway. It's intense, and pleasant. The palate is thick, and aggressive. High in tannin, and spicy rye. With time, and a good dose of water, some of the bourbon sweetness is starting to creep forward, a bit of vanilla, and some sweet cola, but the rye kick is still predominant. This is an excellent whiskey, and maybe I will personally enjoy it more as the bottle aerates and opens up. Right now, I am just dissappointed that I drank the rest of my Garrison Brothers last week, and picked this up instead of another bottle of Garrison's.
