George Dickel 15 Year Tennessee Single Barrel
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA

Had this bottle brought back to my state by a friend since many of the Dickel bottles don't make it to Michigan. Have heard good things on this one and eager to try so let's go...
Nose is quite sweet on this. Caramel and brown sugar with a hint of roasted peanuts. It's really quite a nice start.
First sip sweet from the start with a brown sugar intro. This morphs quickly to a toasted caramel with some gentle cinnamon heat. As this fades those roasted peanuts make their entrance. Then things get interesting as a second wave of cinnamon heat comes on and carrys you to the finish line.
I was hoping for a nice pour and this didn't disappoint, but the complexity was unexpected. Maybe it was all that barrel time, but this one breaks away from your standard whiskey with that wonderful cinnamon peanut finish. Very glad to add this to my collection and an excellent bottle at its price point. I probably give this an extra quarter point for value. Grab one if you see it.

@PBMichiganWolverine I would say hell yes if you like Dickel. Almost any other brand would be charging $100-200 for a 15Y old bourbon.
@BDanner 52.3 here in total wine NJ, $65. Worthwhile buy?
This seems like a no-brainer buy. $60 here in NYC / NJ area
@Zachary-Robbins yeah, I know proofs are all over the play with this, but 84? Wow. Definitely on the lookout.
@BDanner I saw a bunch in Total Wine Greenville today for $72 and only 42.2%. The NC price and barrels are a much better deal from what I'm seeing. I've seen pictures from other counties with some 50+ % releases.
@Bourbon_Obsessed_Lexington Damn it you're right! Move along people...nothing to see here....
Quick - flinstones vitamins, Tennessee, don’t buy this!!! If people stop hating on Dickel we’ll be in trouble... and Barrell blends will just get more expensive :(
@Zachary-Robbins good info! I may be able to pick up one in New Hanover. They are pretty active with barrel picks.
@BDanner It is here in places. Picked one up in Gibsonville last week and Chatham Co 15-501 store had at least 20 bottles on the shelf Thursday.
Nice review. Glad to hear it’s good. Knowing this may never make it to NC, I overpaid by about $10 plus paid shipping and ordered it online. Supposed to be here Monday. Looking forward to trying it.
