Invergordon 1988 32 Year (Blackadder)
Single Grain — Highlands, Scotland

Blackadder's Raw Cask whiskies retain all their natural cask sediments, oils and fats to achieve maximum possible flavor. Turn the bottle upside down, and you have a unique snow globe! A bit shy at first, the nose of this Invergordon flourishes with cereal notes, floral vanilla and honey pancakes. On the palate, the true potential of this flavor bomb unfolds. Custard, eucalyptus and a dash of pepper seduce the senses. The age shows in the mildly dry finish, while always hitting the sweet spot. Whoever doesn't like this grain should consult a psychotherapist.

@ContemplativeFox Well, in this case there was a black layer of charcoal sitting at the bottom of the bottle. I have to admit that my first reaction was wtf... but then I understood and really enjoyed it!
@ContemplativeFox amen!
@Slainte-Mhath I could live without filtration. I'm disappointed that getting the juice straight from the barrel like this isn't an option more often.
@ContemplativeFox Yeah, this is the exact opposite of chill filtration. Straight from the cask into the bottle. I dare say that it makes a big difference, the flavors of this grain were really intense!
Wow this ups the ante when it comes to not filtering! Sounds like a very cool experience :)
@Slainte-Mhath this sounds like heaven in the form of whisky and fully experiential - outstanding detail on this one!
@Bourbon_Obsessed_Lexington This is the kind of bottle I would recommend to every bourbon lover! Not sure if it is available in the US, though.
Additonal comment: When I considered buying this bottle, there was not a single review online. I took a chance, simply hoping that Blackadder wouldn't bottle crap in celebration of their 25th anniversary. After tasting the first glass, I immediately ordered two more bottles... You have to be quick with these releases.
Additional information: Celebrating 25 years of Blackadder, this Invergordon was distilled in 02/1988 and bottled in 07/2020 at 32 years of age. It was drawn from a single hogshead (#8103) at cask strength of 51.5% ABV (273 bottles).
