Tastes like vodka with a slight hint of scotch flavor. Makes me think I'm coming down with a case of COVID. Doesn't taste bad, it just hardly tastes like anything. I suspect Balcones has given me unrealistic expectations for American single malts.
Update: a week later, it's unclear if this has gotten a little better or if I'm better, but this has got a little more going on than I gave it credit for. One could perhaps see some similarities to a young Speyside. Bumping up a half point. Still not great, despite a longer age statement than comparable American single malts.

@Anthology it really had me wondering.
Lol something that makes you think you’re coming down with a case of COVID is a vivid descriptor…and a new low in the bad whiskey category! Clearly will not be seeking this one out although I will admit their rye (old packaging) was somewhat decent.
