"Sweet, buttery, and full of bourbon up front. Rye spice with loads of black pepper in the middle. The finish is all earthy smoke with a clean finish.
High west hails from Park City, Utah, They blend some of the finest whiskeys in all the land. Their base is a 16 year old rye, which has become quite rare. This beautiful dram is sadly disappearing until the supply can once again meet the demand." - Bartender's Note (Garret)
The nose presents with the muted scents of dried stone fruits upon a foundation of smoke and peat. The finish is characterized by notes of toasted spice and leather.
On the palate, it begins with sweet, vanilla notes from the bourbon and transitions into smoke, browned butter, and peat. There is an undercurrent of dark, stone fruits throughout. The finish is rich with spicy notes of nutmeg and cinnamon upon a bed of leather and oak wood.
A bit of a rougher, spicy experience with a pleasant bit of burn in the throat that settles into a warm glow in the chest. Best enjoyed neat or with a splash of water.
