My 2nd mezcal. Something new! Tasted neat from a snifter.
On the nose is black pepper, green pepper, agave, slight citrus, celery salt and ethanol.
On the palate I'm getting banana skins, smoke, complex herbs, some sweet fruitiness and an almost meaty finish. This is rich, but not as smoky as Ray Campero Espadin and without the traces of iodine and minerals that that mezcal brought.
The finish is quick, with a clean fade that leaves a sweet aftertaste and just the hint of smoke.
Any ratings that I provide regarding mezcal should be tempered with the fact that I have had very few of them.
This one is quite interesting, but not really in my lane. I'd like to try it in some mixed cocktails. It's complex and tasty. I think this would be a fine accompaniment to a spicy dish or even a smokey barbecue.
